A tragic early morning incident in the Gaston area has resulted in the death of 22-year-old Gabrielle Marie Cribb and the arrest of a Lexington woman now facing serious criminal charges.
According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a home on Marshall Road at approximately 3:20 a.m. following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found Cribb in a hallway with multiple stab wounds, while another individual attempted to provide aid by applying pressure to her injuries.
Cribb was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery. Despite medical efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators allege that the suspect, identified as Constance Michelle Lever, entered the residence after an earlier dispute and armed herself with a kitchen knife before carrying out the attack. Witness statements indicate that tensions had escalated earlier in the evening, with reports of prior threats made toward individuals inside the home.
Authorities stated that those involved had been out earlier in the night before an argument led to a separation, which was later followed by the fatal confrontation at the residence.
Lever was taken into custody later that morning and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. She has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Officials confirmed she has been denied bond as the investigation continues.
The loss of Gabrielle Marie Cribb has left family, friends, and the community grieving a life taken far too soon.
